SUMMARY:
Economic Education Program. Establishes the Virginia Economic Education Program and Fund for the stated purposes of providing the resources and services that teachers need to prepare kindergarten through grade 12 students to understand the economy and to develop the decision-making skills they need to be informed citizens, productive employers and employees and wise consumers. Under the bill, the Program will be administered by Virginia Commonwealth University and the Fund will consist of civil penalties, not exceeding $100,000 per calendar year, from violations of the Securities Act (§13.1-501 et seq.), as well as grants, general funds and other moneys appropriated by the General Assembly.
