SUMMARY:
Reduction in force of teachers. Incorporates the law pertaining to the reduction in force of teachers into one statute, which includes the following requirements: (i) public notice in a newspaper of general circulation in the school division by the school board prior to reduction in force; (ii) right of a teacher separated from employment in a reduction to grieve the misapplication of rules, policies, and regulations; (iii) the separation from employment of annual contract teachers before tenured teachers during a reduction in force if requirements for licensure, endorsement, and experience are met; and documentation in a teacher's file when the teacher is removed during reduction that such separation from employment is due to reduction in force.
