SUMMARY:
Access to medical records. Clarifies that the section which spells out specific procedures and costs governing access to medical records applies only to requests made in the course of or in anticipation of litigation. The bill further clarifies that an independent contractor providing confidential medical record retrieval services pursuant to § 8.01-413 is providing a service rather than a product. Under this amendment, sales tax need not be charged for the record retreival service.
