SUMMARY:
Criminal records check of employees of certain school boards. Adds the City of Chesapeake School Board to those local school boards that must require fingerprinting as a condition of employment. The present law directs the school boards of the Counties of Chesterfield, Cumberland, Fairfax, Fluvanna, Hanover, Henrico, Louisa, Orange, Prince William, Rockbridge, Spotsylvania and the Cities of Alexandria, Fredericksburg, Hopewell, Manassas, Radford, and Richmond to require fingerprinting and a criminal records check of any person accepting employment by the school board. Records are only searched for convictions of certain serious crimes, such as murder, neglect of children, and sexual assault.
