HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 49
Commending the Hermitage Vocational and Technical Center in Henrico County.

WHEREAS, the 1994 Mid-Atlantic High School Electric Vehicle Competition is an initiative sponsored by Virginia Power that directly involves teams of high school students in designing, building, and racing an electric car; and

WHEREAS, about 25 high schools, from Pennsylvania to North Carolina, have been invited to participate in the competition which will culminate in a two-day event in late April at the Richmond International Raceway; and

WHEREAS, among the five Virginia teams sponsored by Virginia Power is one from the Hermitage Vocational and Technical Center in Henrico County; and

WHEREAS, the team, made up of not more than 10 students and two faculty members, will have the opportunity to engage in an exciting, intensive "real-world" activity, as the students, under faculty guidance, will design, build, present, and arrange to race their own electric car; and

WHEREAS, the selection of the Hermitage Vocational and Technical Center is a distinct honor for the Henrico school and reflects well on its students, faculty, and staff; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend the Hermitage Vocational and Technical Center for the distinction of being chosen to participate in the Mid-Atlantic High School Electric Vehicle Competition; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the General Assembly offer its best wishes to the team from Hermitage Vocational and Technical Center in the 1994 competition; and, be it

RESOLVED FINALLY, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Harvey L. Crone, principal of the Hermitage Vocational and Technical Center, as an expression of the General Assembly's congratulations for this fine accomplishment.
