HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 350 Commending George " Bucky" Wise. Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 11, 1994 Agreed to by the Senate, February 17, 1994

WHEREAS, George " Bucky" Wise, art supervisor for the Henrico County public schools, was named the 1994 Art Educator of the Year by the National Art Education Association; and

WHEREAS, Bucky Wise, who has been with the Henrico schools since 1986, is well known as a leader and innovator in art education in Virginia; and

WHEREAS, among his recent accomplishments, Bucky Wise created the " Catch a Star" program, which has successfully promoted student participation in the arts across Virginia and has gained national recognition for Henrico County and the Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, long active in his profession, Bucky Wise serves as president of the Virginia Art Education Association (VAEA), which recognized him in 1989 as VAEA Art Supervisor of the Year and in 1992 as VAEA Art Educator of the Year; and

WHEREAS, Bucky Wise's well-earned national award recognizes his innovation, his dedication, and his valuable service to art education; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend George " Bucky" Wise for his dedication to art education and for his national recognition as Art Educator of the Year; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to George " Bucky" Wise as an expression of the General Assembly's gratitude for his many contributions to the education and enrichment of the youth of the Commonwealth.
