An Act to amend and reenact § 22.1-32 of the Code of Virginia, relating to school board salaries.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That § 22.1-32 of the Code of Virginia is amended and reenacted as follows:

§ 22.1-32. Salary of members.

A. The school board of the following counties may pay each of its members an annual salary not to exceed the limits hereinafter set forth:

Accomack - three thousand dollars;

Albemarle - thirty-three hundred dollars;

Alleghany - fifteen hundred dollars;

Amelia - twelve hundred dollars;

Amherst - two thousand four hundred dollars;

Appomattox - twelve hundred dollars;

Arlington - seven thousand dollars;

Augusta - twenty-four hundred dollars;

Bath - three thousand five hundred dollars;

Bedford - twenty-four hundred dollars;

Bland - twenty-four hundred dollars;

Botetourt - eighteen hundred dollars;

Brunswick - eighteen hundred dollars;

Buchanan - eighteen hundred dollars;

Buckingham - two thousand four hundred dollars;

Campbell - two thousand four hundred dollars;

Caroline - twenty-four hundred dollars;

Carroll - twenty-four hundred dollars;

Charles City - twenty-four hundred dollars;

Charlotte - twenty-four hundred dollars;

Chesterfield - seven thousand dollars;

Clarke - twelve hundred dollars;

Patrick - sixteen hundred dollars;

Southampton - twenty-four hundred dollars;

Spotsylvania - three thousand six hundred dollars;

Stafford - two thousand four hundred dollars;

Surry - fifteen twenty-four hundred dollars;

Sussex - twenty-one hundred dollars;

Tazewell - twenty-four hundred dollars;

Warren - fifteen hundred dollars;

Washington - three thousand dollars;

Westmoreland - twelve hundred dollars;

Wise - twenty-four hundred dollars;

Wythe - twenty-four hundred dollars;

York - three thousand dollars.

B. The school board of the following cities and towns may pay each of its members an annual salary not to exceed the limits hereinafter set forth:

Alexandria - five thousand dollars;

Bristol - fifteen hundred dollars;

Charlottesville - three thousand dollars;

Chesapeake - thirty-five hundred dollars;

Colonial Beach - fifteen hundred dollars;

Covington - fifteen hundred dollars;

Danville - six hundred dollars;

Emporia - two hundred forty dollars;

Fairfax - one thousand dollars;

Fredericksburg - three thousand six hundred dollars;

Fries - two hundred forty dollars;

Hampton - three thousand dollars;

Hopewell - twenty-four hundred dollars;

Lexington - six hundred dollars;

Manassas - twenty-four hundred dollars;

Manassas Park - eighteen hundred dollars;

Martinsville - one twenty-four hundred dollars;

Newport News - three thousand dollars;

Norfolk - three thousand dollars;

Norton - eighteen hundred dollars;

Petersburg - twenty-four hundred dollars;

Poquoson - three thousand dollars;

Portsmouth - twenty-seven hundred dollars;

Radford - twelve hundred dollars;

Richmond - five thousand two hundred dollars;

Roanoke - twenty-four hundred dollars;

Salem - seventeen hundred dollars;

South Boston - six hundred dollars;

Suffolk - two thousand dollars;

Virginia Beach - thirty-six hundred dollars;

Waynesboro - twenty-four hundred dollars;

Williamsburg - three thousand dollars.

C. Any school board may in its discretion, after passage of an appropriate resolution by the governing body of the appropriate county, city or town, pay the chairman of the school board an additional salary not exceeding $1,100 per year.

D. Any school board may in its discretion pay each of its members mileage for use of a private vehicle in attending meetings of the school board and in conducting other official business of the school board.

E. Contingent upon finalization of the planned consolidation of the school divisions of Alleghany County and the City of Clifton Forge, the members of the newly consolidated school board representing the City of Clifton Forge shall be paid an amount equal to that paid the members of the present school board of Alleghany County.

F. No school board, whose membership is elected in whole or in part, shall be awarded a salary increase unless, upon an affirmative vote by such school board, a specific salary increase shall be approved.
