1994 SESSION
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 64.1-123.2 of the Code of Virginia is amended and reenacted as follows:
§ 64.1-123.2. Transfer of certain vessels registered with United States Bureau of Customs.
If a Virginia resident owning a vessel registered with the United States
Bureau of Customs, which has a market value not exceeding $7,000,
be is dead and there has been no qualification on his estate, a
transfer of ownership may be made by a legatee or distributee if there
be is presented to the Bureau of Customs a statement made by a
legatee or distributee to the effect that there has not been and there is not
expected to be a qualification on such estate and that his debts have been
paid in full or that the proceeds from the sale of such vessel will be used
to apply against his debts. The statement shall state the name, residence at
the time of death, date of death and the names of all other persons, if any,
having an interest in the vessel which is sought to be transferred and, if
there are such persons of legal age, they shall signify in writing their
consent to such transfer of title.
