An Act to amend and reenact § 15.1-33.2 of the Code of Virginia, relating to local government advisory boards and commissions.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That § 15.1-33.2 of the Code of Virginia is amended and reenacted as follows:

§ 15.1-33.2. Appointment of advisory boards, committees and commissions; compensation and reimbursement of expenses.

The governing body of every county, city, or town may appoint such advisory boards, committees, and commissions as it may deem necessary to advise the governing body with regard to any matter of concern to the county, city, or town. Members shall be appointed to serve at the pleasure of the local governing body.

The local governing body may provide for (i) reimbursement of the actual expenses incurred by members while serving on such advisory boards, committees, and commissions and (ii) compensation to members for their services not to exceed fifty dollars for attendance per meeting.
