SUMMARY AS PASSED HOUSE:
Adult wellness screening; sickle cell disease or sickle cell trait. Provides that every adult resident of the Commonwealth may be offered screening tests for sickle cell disease or the sickle cell trait and requires that the health care professional in charge of an adult's annual health examination provide education and appropriate counseling regarding the results of any such test that is performed.
SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Adult wellness screening; sickle cell anemia or sickle cell trait. Requires that every adult in the Commonwealth be subjected at the time of his annual physical examination to screening tests for the disease of sickle cell anemia or the sickle cell trait. Under the bill, any adult who objects on religious grounds is not required to receive such screening tests.
