HOUSE BILL NO. 902 AMENDMENT IN THE NATURE OF A SUBSTITUTE (Proposed by the Senate Committee on Privileges and Elections on February 22, 2022) (Patron Prior to Substitute--Delegate Avoli) A BILL to allow for a referendum to be held in 2022, relating to the removal of the Augusta County courthouse from the City of Staunton to Augusta County.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. § 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of § 15.2-1655 of the Code of Virginia, Augusta County may hold a referendum in 2022 on the removal of the Augusta County courthouse from the City of Staunton to Augusta County. Any such referendum shall be conducted, in all other respects, in accordance with the provisions of Article 8 (§ 15.2-1638 et seq.) of Chapter 16 of Title 15.2 of the Code of Virginia and Article 5 (§ 24.2-681 et seq.) of Chapter 6 of Title 24.2 of the Code of Virginia.
