22101308DBe it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 38.2-2122 of the Code of Virginia is amended and reenacted as follows:
§ 38.2-2122. Appraisers and umpires; oath to be taken.
Whenever any appraisal is to be made under the standard
provisions of a policy for loss or damage to property,
the appraisers and the umpire shall be citizens and actual residents of this
Commonwealth unless otherwise agreed to in writing by the insured and the
insurer. Each each
appraiser and umpire shall, before acting as such, take an oath that he is not
directly or indirectly in the employment of the insured, the insurer, or any other insurer, that he
is not related to the insured or any officer of the insurer, and that he will
faithfully discharge the duties imposed upon him.
