HOUSE BILL NO. 486 AMENDMENT IN THE NATURE OF A SUBSTITUTE (Proposed by the House Committee on Education on February 7, 2022) (Patron Prior to Substitute--Delegate Subramanyam) A BILL to require certain local school boards to establish academic year Governor's School student seat allocation working groups.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. § 1. Any local school board that solely governs a regional academic year Governor's School shall establish a working group that consists of representatives of the school boards governing the local school divisions that send students to attend such Governor's School to discuss the allocation of student seats in such school amongst such local school divisions. The working group shall seek input from relevant stakeholders including students, parents, teachers, and school administrators. The working group shall submit to the Chairmen of the House Committee on Education and the Senate Committee on Education and Health no later than December 1, 2022, a summary report of its deliberations and its findings and recommendations, if any.
