Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding in Article 7 of Chapter 15 of Title 15.2 a section numbered 15.2-1543.1 as follows:

§ 15.2-1543.1. Employment of grant writer; duties.

A. All counties and cities shall employ a grant writer or designate an official or employee of the county or city to perform the duties as outlined in this section and provide compensation for such service.

B. The grant writer shall assist individuals and organizations with (i) researching and identifying public and private grant opportunities; (ii) developing, writing, and submitting proposals to federal, state, and private funding agencies; and (iii) satisfying eligibility requirements for grant funds sought or received.
