Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 46.2-816.2 as follows:

§ 46.2-816.2. Driving while holding a companion animal prohibited.

It is unlawful to operate a motor vehicle while holding a companion animal as defined in § 3.2-6500.
