SUMMARY AS PASSED HOUSE:

Protective order; family abuse; financial relief; temporary spousal support. Allows the court to order the respondent in a protective order issued in a case of family abuse to order financial or other relief for the protection or well-being of the petitioner. The bill further allows a court to issue a temporary spousal support order for support of the petitioner in conjunction with the issuance of such a protective order.

SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:

Protective order; family abuse; restitution; temporary spousal support. Allows the court to order the respondent in a protective order issued in a case of family abuse to make restitution to the petitioner for damage or destruction to the petitioner's property, medical bills related to treatment of injuries caused by the family abuse, and petitioner's financial loss caused by the respondent. The bill further allows a court to issue a temporary spousal support order for support of the petitioner in conjunction with the issuance of such a protective order.
