Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding sections numbered 27-97.01 and 36-98.02 as follows:

§ 27-97.01. Notice requirements.

Where Code provisions direct an enforcement agency to provide notice related to enforcement of the Fire Prevention Code, such notice shall be provided to the owner of the building, structure, property, or premises in question. Code provisions may also direct that such notice be provided to other persons as appropriate.

§ 36-98.02. Notice requirements.

Where Code provisions direct a local building department to provide notice related to enforcement of the Building Code, such notice shall be provided to the owner of the building, structure, property, or premises in question. Code provisions may also direct that such notice be provided to other persons as appropriate.
