WHEREAS, on January 18, 2017, the House of Delegates agreed to House Resolution No. 268 recognizing January 22 as the Day of Tears in Virginia; and
WHEREAS, on January 22, 1973, the Supreme Court of the United States affirmed the right of women to control their reproductive health care decisions; and
WHEREAS, in 2017 and 2019, a record number of women ran for the House of Delegates; and
WHEREAS, in 2020, there will be more women than ever serving in the House of Delegates; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That January 22 be recognized as the Day of Women in Virginia; January 22 is no longer to be known as the Day of Tears in Virginia; and be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That all Virginians be encouraged to celebrate women in leadership.
