SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Continued health insurance coverage for certain state and local employees. Authorizes the surviving spouse and dependents of an employee of the Commonwealth or any political subdivision thereof to continue to receive health insurance benefits if the employee died as a result of an accident or unnatural event, or was the victim of criminal activity, during the performance of his duties. In order for the surviving spouse and dependents to be eligible for such health insurance coverage, the deceased shall have participated in a health insurance plan administered by the Commonwealth at the time of his death and the surviving spouse and any dependents shall have been included in the health insurance coverage at the time of the deceased's death. The bill provides occurrences upon which such coverage shall automatically terminate.
