WHEREAS, Michelle Marie Langer, a dedicated employee of the Virginia Beach Department of Public Utilities and a vibrant member of the Virginia Beach community, died on May 31, 2019; and
WHEREAS, a native of Lansing, Michigan, Michelle “Missy” Langer grew up in Ohio, where she graduated from Beaver Local High School; she had lived in the Hampton Roads area for more than two decades and relished every opportunity to spend time on the beach with friends; and
WHEREAS, for the past 12 years, Missy Langer served the residents of Virginia Beach as an administrative assistant with the Virginia Beach Department of Public Utilities; and
WHEREAS, outside of her professional career, Missy Langer was an ardent fan of the University of Michigan Wolverines and the Pittsburgh Steelers, and her game day cheers could be heard throughout her neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, Missy Langer enjoyed fellowship and worship with the congregation of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Virginia Beach; and
WHEREAS, Missy Langer will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her siblings, Deborah and Herman, and their families; and numerous other family members, friends, and fellow employees of the Virginia Beach Department of Public Utilities; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of Virginia hereby note with great sadness the loss of Michelle Marie Langer, a beloved member of the Virginia Beach community and a dedicated civil servant; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Michelle Marie Langer as an expression of the Senate of Virginia’s respect for her memory.
