SUMMARY AS PASSED HOUSE:
Firefighting foam management. Prohibits, beginning July 1, 2021, the use for training purposes or for testing, with some exceptions, of a class B firefighting foam that contains intentionally added PFAS chemicals, as defined in the bill.
SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Firefighting foam management. Directs the Virginia Department of Fire Programs to begin before January 1, 2020, assisting local municipal fire departments to evaluate and, when appropriate, transition to the use of fluorine-free versions of class B firefighting foam, as defined in the bill. The bill prohibits, beginning July 1, 2020, the use for training purposes or for testing, with some exceptions, of a class B firefighting foam that contains intentionally added PFAS chemicals, as defined in the bill.
