SUMMARY AS PASSED:

Public institutions of higher education; executive officers; salaries. Requires the governing board of each public institution of higher education to report by September 1 of each year to the Chairmen of the House Committees on Appropriations and Education and the Senate Committees on Finance and Education and Health the salary by position of any executive officer of such institution that exceeds for the previous fiscal year the salary limit for the chief executive officer for such institution set forth in the general appropriation act.

SUMMARY AS PASSED HOUSE:

Public institutions of higher education; executive officers; salaries. Provides that no salary of any executive officer of a public institution of higher education hired on or after July 1, 2019 shall exceed the midpoint of the Level I Range for agency heads set forth in Part 4 of the general appropriation act, provided, however, that (i) the governing board of any institution located in Planning District 8 may adjust the salary of any such executive officer by no more than 19 percent of such midpoint and (ii) the governing board of any institution may supplement the salary of any such executive officer with private gifts, endowment funds, foundation funds, and income from private gifts and endowments.

SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:

Public institutions of higher education; executive officers; salaries. Prohibits the salary of any executive officer of a public institution of higher education from exceeding the salary limit for the chief executive officer of such institution set forth in Part 4 of the general appropriation act but provides that the governing board of any institution may supplement the salary of any such executive officer with private gifts, endowment funds, foundation funds, and income from private gifts and endowments.
