SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Physicians; requirement of medical specialty board certification prohibited. Prohibits hospitals and other entities that employ or provide staff membership or professional privileges to individuals licensed to practice medicine in the Commonwealth, medical malpractice insurance providers, or health insurance providers from considering active certification of a physician by a medical specialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties, the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons, the American Osteopathic Association, the National Board of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons, or any other nationally recognized entity providing medical specialty certification as a prerequisite for employment, the granting or continuing of staff membership or professional privileges, issuance of medical malpractice insurance coverage, reimbursement for services provided to a person covered by a health insurance policy, or licensure to practice medicine in the Commonwealth.
