Introduced by: David J. Toscano | all patrons    ...    notes | add to my profiles | history

SUMMARY AS PASSED HOUSE:

Alcoholic beverage control; low alcohol beverage coolers. Allows low alcohol beverage coolers to be manufactured by a licensed distiller or a distiller located outside of the Commonwealth. The bill also allows licensed distillers to use spirits manufactured by another licensed distiller in the manufacture of low alcohol beverage coolers. In addition, the bill allows (i) low alcohol beverage coolers to be sold in government stores and (ii) distillers to sell low alcohol beverage coolers that are manufactured or blended by such distillers at government stores established on their licensed premises.

SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:

Alcoholic beverage control; regulations of the Board of Directors of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority; sale of spirits and wine in cans. Directs the Board of Directors of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority to promulgate regulations permitting the manufacture and sale of spirits and wine in single original metal cans with a maximum capacity of 16 fluid ounces or, for metric-sized containers, one-half liter, provided that such spirits and wine contain less than seven and one-half percent alcohol by volume. The bill clarifies the definition of "spirits" for purposes of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Act by providing that "spirits" means any beverage that contains alcohol obtained by distillation mixed with drinkable water and other substances, in solution, regardless of alcohol by volume.
