SUMMARY AS PASSED HOUSE:
Public institutions of higher education; in-state tuition; foreign service officers. Provides that members of the foreign service office who resided in the Commonwealth for at least 90 days immediately prior to receiving a foreign service assignment and who continue to be assigned overseas, and any dependents of such member, are eligible for in-state tuition charges regardless of domicile.
SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Public institutions of higher education; in-state tuition; foreign service officers. Requires public institutions of higher education to waive the one-year domiciliary intent requirement for foreign service officers residing in the Commonwealth and their spouses and dependents. The bill requires any dependent of any foreign service officer who resided in the Commonwealth immediately prior to receiving his foreign service assignment to be deemed to be domiciled in the Commonwealth and declares any such dependent eligible to receive in-state tuition.
