SUMMARY AS PASSED:
State Council of Higher Education for Virginia; financial aid award notification. Requires any comprehensive financial aid award notification provided to a student by a public institution of higher education or private institution of higher education to meet the requirements and best practices established by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia in its Financial Aid Award Letters Policies and Guidance. This bill is identical to SB 1593.
SUMMARY AS PASSED HOUSE:
State Council of Higher Education for Virginia; financial aid award notification. Requires any comprehensive financial aid award notification provided to a student by a public institution of higher education or nonprofit private institution of higher education to meet the requirements and best practices established by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia in its Financial Aid Award Letters Policies and Guidance.
SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Public institutions of higher education; certain students; federal financial aid. Provides that no public institution of higher education is eligible to receive funds from the state general fund unless it provides each individual who has been accepted to the institution for first-time enrollment in a degree or certificate program and who has applied for federal financial aid with a standardized financial aid award letter in the form of the Financial Aid Shopping Sheet developed and made available by the U.S. Department of Education.
