HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 640
Celebrating the life of John T. King.

 

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, May 30, 2018

 

WHEREAS, John T. King, a respected member of the Roanoke County community who served as a volunteer firefighter for 40 years, died on May 9, 2018; and

WHEREAS, a veteran of the United States Air Force, John King safeguarded the lives and property of his fellow residents as a member of the Cave Spring Volunteer Fire Department for four decades and served as a chief of the department; and

WHEREAS, John King’s legacy lives on in the countless volunteer firefighters he guided and mentored, including his son, Brandon, who followed in his father’s footsteps as a captain of the Cave Spring Volunteer Fire Department; and

WHEREAS, John King’s greatest joy in his life was his beloved family, and he relished every opportunity to spend time with his children and grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, predeceased by his wife, Brenda, John King will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his children, Brandon and Farrah, and their families, and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of John T. King, former chief of the Cave Spring Fire Department and a highly admired member of the community; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of John T. King as an expression of the House of Delegates’ respect for his memory.
