HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 610
Commending the Pittsylvania Career and Technical Center SkillsUSA team.

 

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, May 30, 2018

 

WHEREAS, Pittsylvania Career and Technical Center SkillsUSA team earned four gold medals at the SkillsUSA Championships in Danville on April 14, 2018; and

WHEREAS, the SkillsUSA Championships are a series of competitions that showcase the best and brightest career and technical education students throughout the nation and allow industry professionals to evaluate and reward student excellence; and

WHEREAS, Pittsylvania Career and Technical Center serves talented students from schools throughout Pittsylvania County and has participated in the SkillsUSA Championships since 2013, earning a total of 12 gold medals and two silver medals to date; and

WHEREAS, during the 2018 state championship, Chatham High School junior Trent Oswald won the Precision Machining competition, Dan River High School senior Kayla Keen won the CNC Technician competition, Tunstall High School senior Jacob Moss won the CNC Turning Specialist competition, and Gretna High School senior Phillip East won the CNC Milling Specialist competition; and

WHEREAS, the four victorious Pittsylvania Career and Technical Center students joined three students from nearby Danville Community College as gold medal winners, several of whom will represent the Commonwealth at the national championship in Kentucky in June 2018; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Pittsylvania Career and Technical Center SkillsUSA team hereby be commended on winning four gold medals at the state championship in April 2018; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Pittsylvania Career and Technical Center SkillsUSA team as an expression of the House of Delegates’ admiration for the team’s achievements.
