HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 523 Commending the Salem High School Delphi staff.

 

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, April 17, 2018

 

WHEREAS, the Salem High School Delphi staff was honored by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association with a prestigious Silver Crown Award for its 2016 - 2017 edition; and

WHEREAS, the Crown Awards are presented to exceptional student publications such as the Salem High School Delphi, which won in the print magazine category; the Columbia Scholastic Press Association evaluates entries on writing, editing, design, content, concept, photography, art, and graphics; and

WHEREAS, the Salem High School Delphi, published and distributed by student staff members under the guidance of faculty advisor Fred Campbell, showcases the original art, writing, and photography of Salem High School students; and

WHEREAS, Delphi was one of only 18 Virginia school publications to receive a Columbia Scholastic Press Association Gold or Silver Crown Award; and

WHEREAS, the Salem High School Delphi staff traveled to Columbia University in New York City to accept the Silver Crown Award on March 16, 2018; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Salem High School Delphi staff hereby be commended on receiving a prestigious Columbia Scholastic Press Association Silver Crown Award; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the members of the Salem High School Delphi staff as an expression of the House of Delegates’ admiration for their achievements.
