18103976DWHEREAS, January 4 has been declared World Hypnotism Day in 22 countries throughout the world; and
WHEREAS, hypnosis has been proven effective in dealing with stress, anxiety, grief, and physical discomfort, as well as smoking cessation and weight loss; and
WHEREAS, hypnosis has been used to help soldiers dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder; and
WHEREAS, hypnosis has been used to treat people in physical discomfort without the use of opiates; and
WHEREAS, hypnosis has enabled many citizens of the Commonwealth and people around the world to better cope with their everyday problems; and
WHEREAS, hypnotists in Virginia have served and improved their communities by enhancing the quality of life of their patients; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly designate January 4, in 2019 and in each succeeding year, as World Hypnotism Day in Virginia; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a copy of this resolution to Tim Horn of Hypnoconsult LLC., in Manassas so that members and supporters of the hypnotist community may be apprised of the sense of the General Assembly of Virginia in this matter; and, be it
RESOLVED FINALLY, That the Clerk of the Senate post the designation of this day on the General Assembly's website.
