Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 8.01-401.4 as follows:

§ 8.01-401.4. Officers and employees of the government as expert witnesses; no fee shall be charged.

No officer or employee of the Commonwealth or of any locality or political subdivision thereof who is called to testify as an expert witness in his capacity as such an officer or employee shall charge a fee for providing such testimony, whether at trial or in a deposition.
