Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 32.1-281.1 as follows:

§ 32.1-281.1. Collection of fees.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner shall not charge a fee for any services provided in connection with death investigations conducted pursuant to this chapter unless such fees are expressly authorized by statute.
