Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 22.1-298.5 as follows:

§ 22.1-298.5. One-year provisional license; adjunct professors at institutions of higher education.

Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, any individual shall be eligible for a one-year provisional license through the Virginia Career Switcher Alternative Route to Licensure Program if he has:

1. Completed the application process;

2. Received a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education;

3. Completed the requirements for an endorsement in a teaching area or the equivalent through verifiable experience or academic study;

4. Received qualifying scores on the professional teacher's assessments prescribed by the Board; and

5. Completed at least 30 credit hours of teaching experience as an adjunct professor at an institution of higher education.
