18106630DBe it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. § 1. The Board of Education shall convene a work group consisting of representatives of the Virginia Board of Workforce Development, student representatives, and such other members as the Board of Education deems appropriate to study and make recommendations relating to (i) strategies for eliminating any stigma associated with high school career and technical education pathways and the choice of high school students to pursue coursework and other educational opportunities in career and technical education and related fields such as computer science and robotics and (ii) the consolidation of the standard and advanced diplomas into a single diploma and the creation of multiple endorsements for such diploma to recognize student competencies and achievements in specific subject matter areas. The work group shall, with the assistance of the Department of Education, actively seek public comment on the foregoing areas of study. The work group shall complete its meetings no later than October 1, 2018, and shall submit to the Governor and the Chairmen of the House Committee on Education and the Senate Committee on Education and Health a report of its findings and any recommendations no later than November 1, 2018.
