Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. § 1. That the Board of Housing and Community Development shall amend the Uniform Statewide Building Code (§ 36-97 et seq. of the Code of Virginia) to require the installation of arc fault circuit interrupter protection for detached one-family and two-family dwellings and townhouses pursuant to the International Residential Code and in compliance with the requirements of the National Electrical Code.
