SUMMARY AS PASSED HOUSE:
Pipeline construction; Department of Transportation oversight. Allows the Department of Transportation to enter into agreements with any entity constructing interstate pipelines setting forth a reasonable procedure to identify and remedy damage caused by construction of such pipeline to public highways of the Commonwealth.
SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Pipeline construction; Department of Transportation oversight. Requires the Department of Transportation (VDOT) to document by video the existing condition of the highways on the approved route of an interstate or intrastate pipeline prior to construction, obtain a geotechnical report, and provide a report of such condition on its website. The bill requires VDOT to enter into an agreement with the entity constructing the pipeline that outlines the responsibilities for any required improvements to affected highways.
