WHEREAS, the Medicaid program authorized by Title XIX of the Social Security Act provides health coverage for low-income individuals; and

WHEREAS, federal law and regulations establish certain parameters for the Medicaid program with which states must comply; states have some flexibility in designing and administering their unique state programs of medical assistance; and

WHEREAS, Virginia has taken advantage of some of the options and opportunities available under federal law and regulations governing the Medicaid program but not all; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the Governor be encouraged to include in his 2018-2020 proposed budget such language and amounts necessary to ensure access to the full array of programs, services, and benefits available under the federal Medicaid program; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates transmit a copy of this resolution to the Governor, requesting that the Governor further disseminate copies of this resolution to applicable agencies and officers of state government so that they may be apprised of the sense of the General Assembly of Virginia in this matter.
