Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 54.1-3411.3 as follows:

§ 54.1-3411.3. Instructions for safe disposal of prescription drugs.

Every order for opioids or other prescription drugs dispensed to a patient shall include written instructions for the proper disposal of unused dispensed drugs, including information about disposal programs for opioids and other prescription drugs in which a pharmacy participates pursuant to § 54.1-3411.2.
