2017 SESSION
17103572DBe it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. § 1. Any public or private entity in the Commonwealth that proposes to enter into a contractual agreement with the federal government that would result in the acceptance and resettlement of refugees or persons not lawfully present in the United States shall first notify in writing the chief elected official of all local governments where such persons may be resettled, the Secretary of the Commonwealth, and the Chairmen of the House and Senate Committees on Rules. Such written notice shall be given at least 30 days prior to the signing of any such agreement. The purpose of this act is for notification purposes only and grants no authority to localities or the Commonwealth to either approve or disapprove any such proposed resettlement.
