SUMMARY AS PASSED:
Children with disabilities; alternative methods to demonstrate achievement of the Standards of Learning. Requires the Board of Education to prescribe alternative methods of assessment administration for children with disabilities who meet criteria established by the Board to demonstrate achievement of the Standards of Learning. The bill provides that an eligible student's Individual Education Program team shall make the final determination as to whether an alternative method of administration is appropriate for the student.

SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Customized Standards of Learning assessments for children with disabilities. Permits any local school board and its employees to design, consistent with guidelines established by the Board, a customized Standards of Learning assessment for children with disabilities, as that term is defined in § 22.1-213, in any subject area and administer such assessment to such children as an alternative to the traditional Standards of Learning assessment or any other applicable modified, substitute, or alternative assessment.
