SUMMARY AS PASSED HOUSE:

Secretary of Veterans and Defense Affairs; assistance to homeless veterans. Requires the Secretary of Veterans and Defense Affairs to coordinate with federal, state, local, and private partners to assist homeless veterans in obtaining a state-issued identification card, in order to enable these veterans to access the available federal, state, local, and other resources they need to attain financial stability or address other issues that have adversely affected their lives.

SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:

Secretary of Veterans and Defense Affairs; assistance to homeless veterans. Requires the Secretary of Veterans and Defense Affairs to initiate an enhanced system to help homeless veterans obtain proper identification to ensure that they receive the care to which they are entitled. Such system shall include a formalized approach to identify communities where homelessness for veterans is prevalent and focus outreach efforts in such communities to properly document homeless veterans to ensure that they receive the federal and state services they need to get back on track financially or recover from other problems that have adversely affected their lives.
