SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Certain uses in industrial zones; cost of infrastructure. Provides that a zoning ordinance shall provide that any proposed data center, or similar land use, that will require utilization of a 150 kilovolt or greater electrical transmission line shall be located only in an area that has been zoned for industrial use for a period of at least 18 months prior to final governing body approval. Alternatively, a governing body may authorize a data center, or similar land use, that will require utilization of a 150 kilovolt or greater electrical transmission line to be located outside an area that has been zoned for industrial use for a period of at least 18 months if the owner of the data center is required to pay for all infrastructure and utilities needed to service the data center including a requirement imposed by a locality that transmission lines carrying 150 KV or greater to such data center be placed underground.
