SUMMARY AS PASSED HOUSE:
Zebra mussels; education program. Requires the Director of the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries to establish a program of education for boaters and other members of the public in methods of preventing zebra mussels or other nonindigenous aquatic nuisance species from infesting Virginia waters. The bill requires the program to include cleaning and draining guidelines, designated dry times, and public outreach. The bill allows the Board of Game and Inland Fisheries to deliver the education program through the mandatory boating safety education program, by posting on the Department's website, or by other means.
