HB 1030 Officers of election; required training every two years.
Introduced by: Mark D. Sickles | all patrons ... notes | add to my profiles
SUMMARY AS ENACTED WITH GOVERNOR'S RECOMMENDATION: (all summaries)
Officers of election; required training. Requires each officer of election to receive training before the first election in which he will be serving as an officer of election. Such requirement applies to each term for which he is appointed. Each officer of election shall receive additional training or instruction whenever there is a change to election procedures that alters the duties or conduct of the officers of election. The State Board of Elections is required to (i) develop standardized training programs, (ii) provide standardized training materials, and (iii) offer on the Department of Elections website an online training course. The bill requires the training of the officers of election to be conducted by the local electoral boards and general registrars, using the standardized training programs and materials developed by the State Board, but gives the local electoral boards and general registrars the option to instead require the officers of election complete the online training course offered by the State Board. This bill is identical to SB 574.
