2016 SESSION
WHEREAS, Mary Esguerra of Virginia Beach, a longtime employee of the Virginia Beach Office of the Treasurer, who had wide-ranging interests and enjoyed participating in many activities, and who was a dear friend to many people and a devoted wife, mother, and nana, died on August 30, 2015; and
WHEREAS, a lifelong resident of Virginia Beach, Mary Esguerra was a dedicated public servant, she worked for the City of Virginia Beach Office of the Treasurer for 25 years, helping to ensure the timely and efficient collection of revenues for one of the Commonwealth’s flagship cities; and
WHEREAS, Mary Esguerra’s interests and hobbies were wide-ranging; she found great pleasure in bowling and playing bridge, she loved to dance with her husband, and she enjoyed discovering new worlds and cultures as an enthusiastic and inquiring traveler; and
WHEREAS, as the matriarch of a large and loving family, over the years Mary Esguerra spent many pleasurable afternoons watching her grandsons play baseball; it was her favorite pastime and she could always be counted on to be nearby when one of her many “boys” stepped onto a baseball diamond; and
WHEREAS, Mary Esguerra, who was preceded in death by her husband, Ernie, who was the love of her life, will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by her daughters, Carol and Tina, and their families; and many other family members, friends, and neighbors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Mary Esguerra of Virginia Beach, a dedicated public servant, a friend to many people, and a devoted wife, mother, and nana; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Mary Esguerra as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for her memory.
