Commending John T. Fray.

WHEREAS, John T. Fray has safeguarded the lives and property of his fellow Madison County residents as an active member of the Madison County Volunteer Fire Company for more than 60 years; and

WHEREAS, John Fray and his twin brother, Jack, joined the Madison County Volunteer Fire Company on November 28, 1955; their contributions to the fire company and the Madison County community are immeasurable, with both having held numerous leadership positions; and

WHEREAS, over the course of his 60-year career, John Fray has served as treasurer, marshal, president, vice-president, and associate member officer of the Madison County Volunteer Fire Company; and

WHEREAS, John Fray led efforts to raise funds, purchase property, and design Madison County Volunteer Fire Company’s current firehouse; and

WHEREAS, in recognition of his exceptional service, John Fray received the prestigious 2006 James O. Clore Award, which is presented annually to the Madison County Volunteer Fire Company’s member of the year; and

WHEREAS, John Fray is also a life member of the Madison County Rescue Squad and has taken an active role in the organization over the years; and

WHEREAS, throughout the course of their careers, John and Jack Fray have mentored countless youths in the community, many of whom have gone on to pursue a career in public safety, and they are held in the highest regard by their peers for their leadership and expertise; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend John T. Fray on the occasion of his 60th anniversary as an active member of the Madison County Volunteer Fire Company; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to John T. Fray as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for his tireless service to the people of Madison County.
