WHEREAS, Joseph Anthony DiJulio, a distinguished estate planning and probate attorney in Virginia Beach, died on July 30, 2015; and
WHEREAS, Joseph “Joe” DiJulio earned a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and a law degree from Vanderbilt University, where he was an associate editor of the Journal of Transnational Law; and
WHEREAS, Joe DiJulio worked for the firm of Clark and Stant, which later merged with Williams Mullen; he earned numerous awards and accolades over the course of his career; and
WHEREAS, as a certified public accountant, Joe DiJulio focused on estate planning and probate law, private client and fiduciary services, business succession planning, fiduciary litigation, wealth transfer planning, and tax-exempt practice; and
WHEREAS, Joe DiJulio earned respect from clients for his attentiveness and work ethic, and he shared his expertise with peers as a speaker and author on estate planning; and
WHEREAS, Joe DiJulio served for three years as new decisions editor of the Journal of Taxation and, in addition, Martindale Hubbell rated him an AV attorney, its highest rating; and
WHEREAS, Joe DiJulio was a fellow in the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel; he was listed in The Best Lawyers in America and named as one of the Best Lawyers’ 2012 Norfolk Area Litigation, Trusts & Estates Lawyer of the Year, Legal Elite by Virginia Business magazine, and Super Lawyer for Estate Planning and Probate by Virginia Super Lawyers magazine; and
WHEREAS, supporting several charitable organizations in Virginia Beach, Joe DiJulio served as a board member of the Hansen Family Foundation and was most active with the Virginia Beach SPCA, where he served as a member of the board, including as president; and
WHEREAS, Joe DiJulio, the owner/father of Huff the Great Dane, was presented with a key to City of Virginia Beach by Mayor Will Sessoms, Jr.; and
WHEREAS, passionate about health and fitness, Joe DiJulio was the co-owner of Hybrid Training Center, a mixed martial arts and CrossFit center; and
WHEREAS, Joe DiJulio will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife, Betsy, and numerous other family members, friends, and colleagues; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Joseph Anthony DiJulio, a respected attorney in Virginia Beach; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Joseph Anthony DiJulio as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
