WHEREAS, Brigadier General Wayne A. Wright, ANG, Ret., a dedicated and highly respected leader with the Virginia Air National Guard, retired from military service in May 2015; and

WHEREAS, Wayne Wright graduated from the University of South Carolina and received a commission in the United States Air Force in 1981; he transitioned to the Georgia Air National Guard in 1992 and the Virginia Air National Guard in 2010; and

WHEREAS, Wayne Wright has held leadership positions at squadron, group, wing, and major command levels; his assignments have included operations and training of domestic and allied personnel and development and operational testing; and

WHEREAS, in the Virginia Air National Guard, Wayne Wright rose to become the chief of staff and air component commander, responsible for 1,230 airmen in five organizations; he is certified as a master air battle manager, with qualifications in six ground-based command and control systems; and

WHEREAS, Wayne Wright has earned numerous awards and decorations for his many years of meritorious service; and

WHEREAS, Wayne Wright and his wife, Jeannette, are members of the Toano community and the proud parents of four children and two grandchildren; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Brigadier General Wayne A. Wright, ANG, Ret., on the occasion of his retirement from the Virginia Air National Guard; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Brigadier General Wayne A. Wright, ANG, Ret., as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for his service to the Commonwealth and the United States.
