Commending Holly Lynne McKinley Schmidt.

WHEREAS, Holly Lynne McKinley Schmidt of Herndon, was honored by the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution as the 2015 national Outstanding Junior Member for her exemplary service to the organization; and

WHEREAS, Holly Lynne Schmidt is a 15-year member of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and belongs to the Thomas Nelson Chapter; she has served with distinction in leadership positions at the chapter, state, and national levels, and currently is the chapter’s regent; and

WHEREAS, members of the DAR are descendants of the men and women who aided in the fight for American independence; the organization enthusiastically supports patriotic, historic, and educational efforts across the country; and

WHEREAS, in addition to her work with the Thomas Nelson Chapter of the DAR, Holly Lynne Schmidt has been very involved with the state DAR and has served as delegate, page, club president, vice chair, and chair; and

WHEREAS, Holly Lynne Schmidt has been a leader with the DAR’s national organization, serving as vice chair and cochair of pages; she is a longtime leader with the Children of the American Revolution and currently is its senior state president for Virginia; and

WHEREAS, in her professional life, Holly Lynne Schmidt is a lead technologist for Booz Allen Hamilton, a management and technology consulting firm, and is extensively involved in the community; she belongs to several professional organizations, volunteers with the Girl Scouts of America, and worships at Andrew Chapel United Methodist Church; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Holly Lynne McKinley Schmidt of Herndon for being named the 2015 national Outstanding Junior Member of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Holly Lynne McKinley Schmidt as an expression of the General Assembly’s congratulations and admiration for her dedication to the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution and for her outstanding achievement.
