SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 189 Offered March 2, 2016 Celebrating the life of Maurice Taylor Bey. ---------- Patrons-- Norment; Delegate: Peace ----------

WHEREAS, Maurice Taylor Bey, a talented young basketball player and a beloved member of the Lanexa community, passed away on July 15, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Maurice Bey, who was a rising sophomore at New Kent High School, loved watching and playing basketball; he was a valued member of the New Kent High School Trojans and played as a shooting guard; and

WHEREAS, Maurice Bey was a very talented member of the New Kent High School Choral Program; and

WHEREAS, Maurice Bey was a proud and faithful member of the Moorish Science Temple of America; and

WHEREAS, Maurice Bey’s love and passion for life and living fully inspired all around him to do the same; he was looked up to, adored, and respected by many; and

WHEREAS, Maurice Bey believed in bringing people together and brought joy to others through his bright smile and spirit; and

WHEREAS, Maurice Bey will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by numerous family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the passing of Maurice Taylor Bey; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Maurice Taylor Bey as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
